Founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy – Ecco is our Number 1 brand. Ecco has grown through its innovative and original Scandinavian design to be a world-leading brand. Karl’s aim, which is maintained today, is to offer lightweight flexible shoes that both enhance and follow the natural movement of the foot, with comfort and durability right at the top of their agenda. They frequently pioneer new methods of construction. With their own tanneries and factories wholly owned around the world and their design centre in Denmark, they can truly make the journey from moo to shoe! They also remain conscious of all environmental issues during the production. We love ECCO shoes.
Gabor is one of the most successful and exceptional German shoe labels. Run by the Gabor family since 1949 they have their base in the beautiful Bavarian countryside equidistant from Munich and The Alps. It is as if this inspiration from nature creates the most comfortable yet fashionable shoes that a lady could buy. With a combination of traditional shoe making, innovative technology and that special sense for fashion they offer a consistency of manufacture equalled by few. Natural cotton or leather linings with durable soles and fine leathers completes the picture. A wide range of fittings and sizes compliments their styling – truly shoes for any season.
As one of Europe’s oldest shoe makers, Carl August Seibel now produces a fourth generation of shoes which has gained them the enviable title of European Comfort Shoe. Colourful casuals in soft leathers with stylish clogs and everyday sandals, brings a range alive that has a strong spirit in nature. The men’s range specialises in classic shoes in extra wide fittings plus a strong younger range with quirky sole units, unique designs and hardwearing PU soles.
  THINK! Austria
The Think! philosophy is to produce shoes with a unique character and styling whilst incorporating sustainable use of natural resources. This allows their customer to live in harmony with their environment whilst seeing their own individual requirement fulfilled in the product. Intuitive design in unusual leathers, speak of each wearer’s individuality and personal pleasure in a unique pair of shoes. Comfort guaranteed from the nature form lasts.
Personality – comfort – quality, are the three criteria set by the Peran family when giving the design brief for their shoes. Crafted near Alicante, the Spanish artisan influence is never stronger than with the ‘sewn sole’ production method that allows the shoe to be flexible and adapt to each person’s foot. Having their own tannery just down the road from the factory enables Pikilinos to guarantee a quality shoe manufactured in a healthy and ecologically responsible way. The men’s range offers for the UK a virtually unique blend of softness, quality and a colour range unrivalled by any other maker we deal with. One of our top favourites!
Born in Italy and inspired by Riva del Garda, each range is created with a close group of specialist factories from around the Tuscany region. The Italian design may, on occasion, be translated and specified to be made by exclusive factories in Elche, Spain and a rather special factory in Turkey. A colour for every reason could well be the Riva boast and one that would be amply fulfilled. Their most prolific style being made in no less than 24 colours by an Italian craftsman with over 60 years shoe making experience! They know about leather!
It’s another family affair! The Goodman family have been making shoes since the early 1900’s. With their Van Dal brand they specialise in high quality wider fitting shoes that do not ask you to sacrifice style for comfort. The majority of their shoes are made in a D wide fitting which suits many English ladies’ feet but in addition they offer E and extra wide EE fitting to cater for the more generous foot. Often teamed with matching handbags they make the perfect smart shoe – especially for the Mum of the bride.
Anatomic are designed in the UK but produced in Brazil using premium leathers and suedes. The collection offers classic styling and each pair is 100% hand made. To try on a pair will alter your perception of softness and comfort. This range has grown from nothing 5 years ago to being one of our top three men’s brands – driven entirely by customer satisfaction. Casuals, loafers, shoes and boots all contain Anatomic Gels latest comfort developments. They are really ‘crafted by hands, and loved by feet’. Our range is larger than most other retailers anywhere in the UK.
The Elt name and Barker have been associated for well over 60 years. Our heritage stretches back to 1872, Barkers to 1880 but their strong heritage is highly regarded around the world. Made in a traditional way, many being hand lasted and hand finished, the shoes are left on the last for a slow natural drying and polishing, which defines classic English shoe making. Quality is never enough on it’s own and Barkers enjoy an enviable reputation for avant garde styling that crafts fabulously unusual quality leathers into both contemporary and classic styling. In a changing world, it’s good to know you can still find perfection if you look hard enough. They still make their shoes in the Northamptonshire village of Earls Barton, where they started in 1880 and my dear friend Charles Barker played the organ in the local church.
Quintessentially English, Joseph Cheaney started making shoes in 1886. They have been in the same factory since the early 1900’s. The finest English craftsmanship is employed at Cheaney, handcrafted entirely in their own factory from the original cutting of the leather, through to the final polishing. The reputation and skill base at Cheaney has been further enhanced by the purchase of the factory by Jonathan and William Church, whose reputation in footwear is worldwide. The Goodyear welted process used in the manufacture goes through over 200 operations and takes 8 weeks to mature the shoes. Good things come to those who wait.
Calf uppers (instead of grain leathers) combined with sheepskin linings underpinned by a reflex rubber sole unit offer a formalised yet remarkably comfortable item. This perfect balance of formal with casual is today’s perfect office shoe. The guys that design Steptronic really know their shoe making, having many years experience in Northamptonshire. All that we have to do is to keep them polished and take pleasure in the comfort they offer.
Founded in 1973, Timberland first started making men’s waterproof boots that became extremely popular as workwear in the American great outdoors. Their mission in both their employment and manufacture is to equip people to make a difference in their world by creating outstanding products and putting physical effort back into the communities where their employees live and work do this. They have planted over 1 million trees and used recycled bottles to make many of their sole units. Not just an Eco company, they produce some of the most desirable and comfortable rugged footwear you could wish for. One of Robin’s favourite buys! Their ladies range is developing rapidly and is especially successful in ultra light outdoor walking shoes.

The Glagla designers were challenged to create, from scratch, a shoe that was designed for warm weather activities. It would therefore allow the foot to be cooler and more ventilated than any other shoe on the market. Even more difficult to achieve, in a visually appealing design. But they’ve done it!
For all the effort Glagla was awarded ‘technical innovation of the year’. It’s features allow natural circulation of air in the entirety of the shoe and it also protects the natural movement of the foot thanks to its shape and flexibility. This unique sole shape creates the sensation of walking barefoot.
